Some days...
Some days are better than others and yesterday would go under the "others" type of days. It was rough and last night was really bumpy too. Grace is alert and aware of what is going on and she is not happy about it. She wants the trach "out" and she wants to go home! Yesterday was the first day she started complaining about pain. She says her mouth and neck hurt and she doesn't want anyone getting near either of them. There is a lot that goes on in the trach care and her unwillingness to let us get near her neck is creating some tense moments. She is really hesitant to do anything. We unhooked the monitors last night and carried her around the floor just to get her out of bed. She is just starting to drink a little and today is the day we have to eat something. If not, we will have to address the calorie situation. We have lots on our to do list today and no one is really in a good mood! I asked the nurse if I could get an IV with a caffeine drip and she said she didn't have orders for that so......I will address that with the Dr's this morning when they make rounds. I know there is more to update but I need coffee before I can remember anything else.

Hey what's up GRACE. I am sure you are working real hard and doing all that they want you to in the hospital, so you can get home and play with Judd and Carolina. They miss you; and are so proud of you for being brave doing what you can to get ready to come home. Judd and Caroline are just playing and napping and so forth while Nana just loves to babysit; and tell mom & dad, I am thoroughly enjoying this, and don't worry about anything here. God speedy recovery to you, my angel. Love Nana
hi Grace this is Judd I want you to play with me. I love you.

Sweet Gracie-Keep being brave and do what your mommy and daddy tell you to do so you will get better as fast as possible.
Jacob says he hopes you like playing with your princess and he wants to play with you soon so get better :)
Dear Grace, There are some good things about being in the hospital, you know. You get lots of attention from all your family and friends and people send you lots of cards and gifts. Everybody wants to talk to you. Even outside the hospital, you are who many are talking about. That's sorta like being a star - like Hannah Montana! WOW - you're a special little lady. You hang in there and keep smiling. It makes everyone wonder what you're up to! Before you know it, you'll get to go home. I know you can't wait for that to happen. But enjoy this special treatment while you can. Boy, there sure are a LOT of people who love you. You are one special Princess! God bless, Pam Clarke (Grandonna's friend) P.S. My grandkids call me Honey.
Dear Bridget and Darrell, I hope if I ever have to go to the hospital that you 2 will be my parents! You're doing an awesome job. I'm sure you're tired and weary, but God bless you for the sacrifices you are making for Grace. He will bless you for that. You hang in there, too. You are shining stars along with Grace! Love, Pam Clarke
Dear Grace,
I know how you are feeling about now. Remember when I couldn't come to school at the end of last year because I was in the hospital? Everyday at noon the nurses would come to give me a shot in my stomach! Ouch!! Then a little later they would come to hook up my IV with the medicine that I needed to make me better. You know, I didn't always like those things, but I knew if I would be brave, take my medicine and do all the therapy they asked me to do, Pastor Schueler could take me home. We prayed for Jesus to give me strength to do those things. Jesus wrapped me in His arms and gave me the strength. Will you pray to Jesus to make you strong also? We will pray at our house for you too.
I can't wait to hear how brave you are.
Smile - Jesus loves you and so do I
Mrs. Schueler
Hang in there Grace! It won't be too much longer and you will be home playing. I know this is rough on you, but you are a strong little girl with a strong family supporting you!
God Bless You!
Jamie & Rob
Grace shoulds like you are getting better - anytime you hear complaining - healing must be right around the corner... come home soon
your reading buddy, Ms Hope - Sam and Mr Mike also want you to hurry home
Hi Grace!
This is Princess -the puppy! I heard you got a pink poodle and you named it after me..Princess! I am so honored!! By the way, I had to get some MORE medicine today for my leg. I don't like taking it but my Mommy and Daddy told me it will help me SO I am obeying and taking it even if its yucky!! I KNOW you are obeying your Mommy and Daddy too- just like ME!You are a good example for me!! :)
